The Counting House and Pear Tree complex features two indoor performance spaces, the huge and spectacular Ballroom, and the intimate Lounge. Both of these are situated around a Lounge Bar, with a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits. Outside in the Pear Tree's Courtyard is the third space - The Pear Tree Outdoor Stage - home of the Free music Festival, and just off of it's own bar in the Pear Tree.

The Counting house indoor spaces are located above the Pear Tree, a venue with Edinburgh's biggest beer garden, and the outdoor stage featuring Free Festival shows every day during the Fringe - Feel free to grab a pint outside in the garden between shows, and move back and forth between the two venues as much as you like!

The Counting House is situated close to Edinburgh University, it attracts a mixture of students and local Edinburghers, and during the Fringe is only a minute-or-two away from the George Square venues and Teviot Venues: Udderbelly, Gilded Balloon and Pleasance Dome. 2009 is the third year of Free shows at this venue - with over 50 free shows this year, of every genre this is the place to hang out for the very best in free Fringe comedy, theatre, music, cabaret, childrens shows and outdoor performances.
