Joseph Daniel
Joey Daniel is the writer and performer of The Agony and Ecstasy of Bingo Joe. He is a 3x Emmy and Peabody Award winning TV producer, writer, and performer.
For 9 years, Joey writes and hosts trivia in New York City under the moniker Pappyknowsbest Trivia. Pappyknowsbest Trivia was developed as a pilot for Adult Swim and was mentioned in the Reductress’ article “7 NYC Trivia Nights That Are Gonna Be Way Too Packed After This Article Comes Out".
His weekly events have cultivated a devout fanbase across the city and social media through live events, livestreams, themed nights, celebrity engagements, and corporate events.
Joey’s decade in entertainment includes producing 25 original segments on HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (Edinburgh Fringe alum). His work there helped to earn the production 3 Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series and a Peabody Award which honors the most powerful, enlightening, and invigorating stories in television, radio, and online media.
Joey also worked as an Associated Producer at Vox’s Explained series on Netflix, a show that journalistically explains a wide range of topics from the rise of hurricanes, and student debt, to time, and chess. He also worked for Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, Ice and Coco, and NBC’s The Sound Of Music Live!.
Beyond TV, he has produced 37 theatrical productions at various levels including shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, New York City, and the Scranton Fringe Festival. He was a multi-year producer with The Scranton Shakespeare Festival (SSF), a non-profit theater festival that gives free professional theater to the public. In 2020 he wrote and produced SSF's Season Nine, a podcast that profiled the history of the Festival and adapting into radio dramas during the pandemic. He also was a venue manager in the inaugural year of the Scranton Fringe Festival, an incredible organization that provides Scranton, PA with quality year round arts programming and events.
