    The White Horse is a brand new Free Festival venue for 2011 - and in many
respects a completely new and revitalised venue for the Fringe. New owners took over the
building in mid-2010, who we have worked with previously at our Renroc
venue, and we have known since the days of our original Linsay's venue, who have
transformed what was a faded and tired old pub into a stylish Royal Mile Bar, Cafe and
Bistro - which keeps a traditional Scottish feel, while becoming much more contemporary.
Although the venue is new to us, the
venue has previously been home to other shows during the Fringe over the last few years
under the bars previous owner. In 2011, along with the new owners we are looking to turn
this venue into a fantastic new and upgraded Royal Mile Fringe venue in August, and a
regular comedy club through the year.
The White Horse is in a prime location right on the Royal
Mile, towards the bottom end - and about 3-4 minutes walk from the main area used for
flyering and promoting shows. The venue is in a perfect location for attracting tourists
and  Fringe-goers, along with the regulars and locals who also frequent
this friendly bar.
Being in the heart of town means that The White horse is
close to many other venues - it is just around the Corner from The Hive, and is
also near to The Three Sisters and City Cafe, along with being a short
walk from The Fringe Shop, C Venues, Pleasance Courtyard and Bongo Club.
The Performance space is located at the rear of the main bar,
and is all located on the same level so it is wheelchair accessible. The decor in the
performance space has been completely revamped from precious Fringes, and all of the
technical equipment supplied in the room with be new and significantly improved from what
has previously been available at the venue.
 Performance Space: The Back Room
Stage - 2m (wide) by 1m (deep) corner stage,
raised to 3 inches. No wingspace or backstage.
Seating - Capacity is 60 seated, plus
standing room for 20.
Lighting - 2xFixed Lights to Flood light the
stage. Additional Lighting can be supplied by companies and fixed as required.
Sound - The room is supplied with a 4
channel mixer (2xJack, 2xPhono Inputs). The room has 2xCD Players, 2xMicrophones and 2xMic
stands. Any additional sound equipment can be supplied by performing companies and stored
at the venue.
Audio Visual - There is no other AV
equipment, but this can be added by performers. Sight lines are good in this space for
video etc.
Storage - There is a very small area for
equipment at the venue for props and equipment, shared with other groups.
Bar - There is no bar in the room
