Antony and Donnchadh take you on a trip into
the immediate future, i.e., this afternoon, where everything is completely different and
yet strangely familiar. Traversing the space-time continuum has never been so much fun! Donnchadh O'Conaill is a softly spoken Irishman and
has an impressive, innate ability to hold the audience transfixed, despite a wilfully
low-key approach but this did not stop him winning the 2006 Chortle Student Comedian Of
The Year title in London. And even though his material, too, is delicate, his sharp
one-liners reward the attention. Theres a distinctively bleak feel to his comedy,
but this only adds to its appeal. Donnchadh's pessimism and social awkwardness finds its
outlet in world-weary jokes about suicide, the pain of love and the loneliness of
existence.
Scotch comedian Antony Murray regularly
performs at The Stand Comedy Clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Winner of the Funniest Man in
St.Andrews for 2004 (a title he has kept due to the competition never being run again - a
bit like Portsmouth keeping the FA Cup during World War II). |
