 It has been said by
many that laughter is the best medicine. Doctors are generally less likely to
say so, tending to favour more pharmaceutical methods of treating patients. As I write
this at 4:30 in the morning during one of my seemingly endless night shifts when I may
never see the natural light and get bleeped before I can drink the cup of tea I made about
half an hour ago because a patient sounds a bit more chesty than they were
before they went to sleep but no the nurses havent done any obs because
they didnt want to wake them up

Anyway, I
digress: the very nearly annual Leicester Doctors Revue was conceived a couple of
years ago when a bunch of medical students suddenly found, after 5 years at University,
that we had proper, responsible jobs. Gone were the heady days of the student revue. Some
of us missed it so much that we carried on and in 2008 performed to a rowdy bunch of
the multidisciplinary team that we are so fond of in the NHS. The show we
bring to the Fringe picks out the best bits of the 2008 & 2009 Revues as
well as a few medical school sketches that didnt involve impersonating various
members of the faculty.
Anyone who has
heard of the NHS (and doesn't mind some rude and possibly nude humour) should enjoy the
performance and all proceeds go to medical charities so please come and see us. I hope to
be there myself but havent received my rota yet so Ill probably be working
nights instead
Website: Why
not be our friend on Facebook to see sketches and more photos? Like the NHS, we take all
comers. Look up Leicester Doctors Revue and increase your friends by one! We
may make a group at some point if we get round to it.
