A New venue for 2010, the
Metropole Cafe is situated on the busy Newington Road, a few minutes from the Queens hall
and close to our other venues at the Reverie, Meadow Bar and the Argyle. Newington Road is a very busy road, which is the continuation of North
Bridge/South Bridge/Nicolson Street and South Clerk St - leading straight from the Royal
Mile. The cafe is licensed, and is open from 9am until 10pm each day, and will be
available for performances in the late afternoon and the evening. The performance area is
the only room in the venue, however with the cafe not being a bar the people attending
will all be there for the shows and there won't be the interruptions you would get in a
bar without a separate room.
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, with no steps
into the venue or onto the stage area but there are three steps to the toilet.
Performance Space: The Cafe
Stage - Corner stage, 6ft x 6ft,
on the flat. No Wing space
Seating - Capacity is 60 people seated and standing.
Lighting - 1xFixed Spotlights to Flood light the stage. Additional
Lighting is not possible due to height of ceiling.
Sound - The room is supplied with an 4 channel mixer (4xXLR,
2xJack, 2xStereo Jack), plus 1xCD players, 1xMicrophones and 1xmic stands. Any additional

Audio Visual - No AV equipment is available, but the room can be
used with screens and projectors supplied by the performance group.
