Late & Free @ Hillside offers one of
the best deals on the Fringe - a nightly stand-up comedy show featuring five comics. With
a nightly special guest featuring the cream of the Edinburgh Fringe, including the likes
of Shazia Mirza and Reginald D Hunter, and it's all absolutely free! Your four regular
performers are: Nik Coppin has been a
stand-up comic for more than six years, and performs all over the world. His confident,
affable and energetic style of comedy is quick to build audience rapport, as he talks
about subjects as wide-ranging as observations on human nature, his experiences in the
Antipodes and his mixed race upbringing in London. His mother is English and his father is
from Barbados.
Dizzy High is utterly unique. His experience of
life on the street means an outlook unlike any other comedian. Expect stories about good
trips, bad trips and sick trips as Dizzy looks at the alternative lifestyle with a cheeky
grin.
Jane Hill is one of the most promising newcomers
around. By day an acclaimed crime writer who's been described as "the new queen of
the British psychological thriller", she's a talented stand-up whose wry stories of
sex and the single woman have seen her reach the semi-finals of both Funny Women (2006)
and the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year (2007).
Paul Ricketts was initially a musician who recorded
albums and singles and performed in the UK and Europe. He switched via music journalism
into devising, co-writing and producing stage plays. Two years ago Paul moved into
stand-up comedy on the advice of his therapist. His comedy is dark and dry (rather like a
Bourbon biscuit) and ranges from topical, political to surreal. He made the Laughing Horse
New Act of the Year 2007 semi-finals. |
