The star
of AAA Stand up 2005 and winner of the FHM Comedian of the Year award 2004, Sally-Anne
Hayward who is Sharper than youd think The List, brings her hotly anticipated solo debut
to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year.
Is He
Funny? is the
story of Sallys life as a comedians daughter.
Her father has been a successful stand up comic for 50 years. His work dates back to Dean Martins Laugh In,
Candid Camera and Sunday Night at the London Palladium.
He worked as the warm up artist for, amongst others, Bob Monkhouse,
Parkinson and Steptoe and Son.
Now a
comedian herself, Sally has often been described as posh and middle class, yet her life
has been spent sitting in run-down dressing rooms waiting for her dad to finish his set. When told what his
job is, Sally is always confronted with the question, Is he funny? And then
Is he famous? At last Sally has a serious go at answering these questions. The
result is funny, sad, uplifting, and lasts an hour.
Sally-Anne
Hayward has been described as a charming and popular performer with a winning
brand of autobiographical humour. She always manages to endear herself to any audience by
taking them on a journey through her slightly eccentric world, including insights into the
female psyche and her compulsion to send off spoof job applications.
Sally has developed a
unique brand of sweet young lady cum sharp-witted fox, wrapped in layers of eminently
likeable stage persona.
Currently performing at
major venues up and down the country and regular compere at Jesters Comedy Club in
Bristol, Sally is in high demand across the UK. As well as working as a comedian, Sally is
an accomplished radio presenter and stage and television actress.
