 Goldsmiths
Drama Society is back for the second year with an exciting trio of brand new plays.
All written and devised
by members of the company, the plays ensure an eclectic mix of theatre and entertainment!
A Years Hard Labour, written by
a member of the Drama Society, is a challenging and comic look at the concepts of the
individual Vs the group. Launching the audience into the middle of a complex immigration
trial, the actions pivots around a jury table: opinions are thrown across it, fantasies
enacted on it and relationships formed around it. This fast paced play blurs the
distinction between fantasy and reality, questioning whether people are in fact capable of
interaction and negotiation, pushing them to the very edge of their individual characters.
But whos that under the table, listening to every word? What is he capable of? Who,
in this cacophony of opinions, justice and party food, is Frank?
Combining elements of
naturalism, absurdism and stylised performance, A Years Hard Labour is a fun, enticing and
thought provoking production that will no doubt challenge and entertain the Fringe
audiences. |
