Punch, Drunk, Brain Damage

Active in the English-speaking theater, improv, and music scene in Seoul, Korea, Yekwang Robert Jung brings his first one-man show to the stage.

Yekwang, who prefers to go by Robert, is struggling with identity as a third-culture-kid, and having lived the life of a veritable nomad, finds himself back in his country in a state of angst-filled frustration about the cultural differences and language barrier. Although he is a South Korean citizen, he does not specifically identify with any particular country among the places he has lived - England, Turkey, or Germany - and in his return, feels constricted by the societal norms in a rapidly modernizing South Korea.

What is the price that society pays for work-based culture?

He is torn apart, then turns to alcohol, only to find himself diagnosed with brain cancer in 2012.

How does a society only fixed on development and work treat and care for its ill??

What does overcoming cancer really mean?

Is it purely a physical illness or is it a metaphysical manifestation?

Presenting the story of a 23-year-old's life-changing sequence of events! In a tragicomedy rollercoaster of emotions, he is faced with questions on life and death.
