Described as a ‘Comedian’ by The New York Times, Ashley Gutermuth (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon-Seinfeld Challenge Winner) is an agent of chaos. When she isn’t telling you to sleep with your ex's Dad she is encouraging you to be yourself despite what society wants. She’s AuDHD and unmedicated but only because she can’t make appointments. Her show takes you on a journey of her life with tumultuous family stories that make you wonder how she’s still able to function, albeit barely. No matter what, she’s going to take you to Mexico and teach you about revenge.

Ashley Gutermuth is Hard to Pronounce
Even though Edinburgh includes the West-End, the idea of venturing toward the New Town, puts off many a punter. Cut to, me running down back alleys trying to find the venue, and then trying to find the room in said venue. But to those adventurers, the spoils. Because walking in a few minutes late to Ashley Gutermuth I was greeted with a ‘here’s the re-cap. I’m autistic, I have ADHD, my hairs too short, are you someone who judges what other people wear?’ And I thought – I’m home!

Gutermuth is incredible, everything that comes out of her mouth is inherently funny. No matter what she’s talking about it is delivered with perfect precision. So much so, that the framing of the hour isn’t really a framing; that of her estranged aunt’s obsessive journals. Gutermuth spends a lot of time talking about her age-gap relationship, which was hilarious, and shows what she does with quite a well-worn subject. There are many anecdotes which are unbelievable, watch out for the ‘hidden bars of gold in the cubby-hole’ and ‘uncle’s home movies’.

The audience were so enamoured with Ashley, hanging off every word. It’s a testament to an accomplished comedian, that in the most overcrowded of genre’s at the fringe, Gutermuth is someone you want more and more of, even after the show ends.

I can’t say just how much I enjoyed the show, it was a powerhouse performance, and an absolute must-see at the fringe Click Here
