Matt Grey

Matt has been a stand-up comedian since 1998. He began his career in Melbourne as a fairly traditional stand-up. His performances morphed over time to incorporate a more character based style which is now considered Matt's forte. In 2000 Matt moved to Sydney where he experimented with a number of characters including "The Godfather of Comedy" and "The Jester". In 2001-2002 Matt was invoved in several groups projects that developed television projects for the ABC. Then in 2006 Mathew took a break from comedy to launch Funtime Kids Parties, a party entertainment business for children aged 5-12. Funtime grew quickly and has since seen the introduction of several new party formats- "Slime Parties", "Game Show Parties" and "Nerf Wars". Matt is now regarded as one of the top children's entertainers in Sydney. In 2011, Matt launched his one-man, kid's comedy show called Age-Less. This show marked a return to the comedy stage with a heavy influence from his experience doing hundreds of parties for the children of Sydney. This show was then refined and toured the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Sydney Comedy Festivals in 2012. The tour was a huge success with sell-out shows most days. With the success of the 2012 festival run behind him, Matt was looking for something new. He decided to return to his first love of stand-up comedy, but this time with a difference. The Matt Hatter character that features in the children's shows was extremely loud, so Matt looked for an extreme opposite for his new adults routines. This saw the birth of Mute Matt, a bewildered mime with a bag full of props. The Mute Matt character has been growing in popularity around the alternative venues of the Sydney comedy scene and was recently seen in his first solo show at the Adelaide Fringe Festival called Gobsmacked. In 2013 Matt debuted Age-Less 2:Game On at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. During the Sydney Comedy Festival he was filmed by the ABC and featured on Good Game Spawn Point. Later that year Matt debuted his second new show for the year, Matty Grey's Grossed Out Game Show. This show was awarded Pick of the Fringe for best kids show at the Sydney Fringe Festival. 2014 was a busy year. Grossed Out Game Show went to the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Canberra Comedy Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Age-Less 2: Game On! also had a return performance at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival as well as a brief appearance at the Randwick Town Hall for their Concerts run. Matt debuted his new show Age-Less 3: Dreamweaver vs The Nightmare Child which also saw the introduction of a new character played by Kathryn Grey. Then the year reached its exciting climax with a massively successful trip to the world's biggest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe.
